On this page, we will feature articles on the history of art and design and also offer helpful instructions to aspiring artists to think more like artists.  As an artist, one can never escape using the elements and principles of design.

The elements of design in art.

The elements of design are; line, shape, form, value, color, texture, and space.  To think as an artist, one must remember the basics.  Visualize all the basic shapes around you.  The circle, a spear, a triangle, a square, a rectangle, and a cylinder.  Variations of these basic shapes should be considered whenever we as artists approach art assignments in school and as our own art projects.

Anyone can be a better artist

With dedication and focus anyone can be a better artist.  There is a technique called the gride technique that has been used by many artists for centuries. Leonardo da Vinci

                           Leonardo da Vinci

to name one. There are many other variations of the grid. All are used to help one create a more accurate drawing.  A more accurate drawing will give birth to a more precise painting.  There is good reason, why da Vinci's paintings were never short of perfection.

The best Artist and Designer in the Universe.

This artist really needs no introduction, but I will for he is not always given credit for his work.  From the beautiful underwater world, hanging gardens, and majestic waterfalls, not to mention all the heavenly bodies in space.  There will never be a greater artist than our creator, Jehovah God.  Even if one looks at creation on a microscopic level, one will see a dazzling display of the elements and the principles of design.
